Profile: Novametal Europe srl manufactures dental alloys. We have ISO 9001 certification. Our dental alloy products includes universal ceramic & resin alloys, ceramic alloys and yellow resin alloys. A 3 Metallux LEITZ microscope is used to magnify the alloy and examine the grain and intergranular space as well as the alloy's metallographic structure. Depending on whether the alloys contain more palladium or platinum, we use either ruthenium or iridium grain refiners to obtain a very small grain (micrograin). In alloys that require ceramic firing, the TEC (thermal expansion coefficient) must be measured. This test is performed by means of a dilatometer, which measures the expansion of the alloy at a given temperature. This data is important for deciding which type of ceramic element is most suitable for the specific alloy, which must have a higher coefficient than the ceramic element so that this is compressed during the cooling process.
